It's tax time. First comes the sales tax filing with the CA Board of Equalization. It's a nuisance, but I'm happy enough to pay the sales taxes due. After all, they reflect actual sales and revenues. I have my sales and other income and expense info. listed in a spreadsheet, so it is just mechanics to make sure I have the numbers right and in the right categories. Then Schedule C for income tax. Another nuisance, but just mechanics. I've been filing a Schedule C for years. This year I add some additional lines related to publishing and book sales -- a few more numbers than before, since I had not been selling goods until the just-completed year, but just mechanics. The paperwork is the least fun part of the business, though.
